My next assignment is in Vicksburg Mississippi. Right along the Mississippi River and Louisiana border. We figure we could check out Mississippi and Louisiana for the next couple of months and get these states off our list. There just so happens to be a National Military Park here. So we got our book stamped already and sticker put on the map!

Before my dad left we wanted to visit the town of Vicksburg to see what it had to offer… I’d love to tell you it has a lot but unfortunately like the man who owned the local pawn shop told us. It is home to three different casinos! And those Casinos are now “dried out” (his words) so the surrounding areas around those casinos are pretty much dried out too. He said they tried so hard to petition the welcoming of those casinos because it would ruin the city and make sure nothing nice was left for people to do besides visit those casinos.. I think he’s right. Aside from a couple highlighted places. It really is not as “hopin” as the brochures make it look. But like always we make the best of anything and find all the little wonderful secret treasures.

This cruise ship will go all the way from the gulf coast up the Mississippi into Ohio! It was really neat to see it up close.

National military Park battlefield
USS Cairo

One of seven river ironclads, The U.S.S. Cairo was commissioned in January of 1862. Only to be destroyed a short time after while trying to clear torpedos in the Mississippi River.

Visiting the park was fun. We plan to go back and ride our bikes along the trails..

Other than that I think we had a great visit with my dad. Those two weeks feel like they flew by.

Tanner and papa did lots of playing/ snuggling and block building.

Well till next time. We love you all. Thanks for coming along! -The Miller Family

Trying this again since my last comments didn’t save. So neat to get a stamp when you visit a state park. Tanner will have many memories as he gets older. Bet Tanner thought that cannon was cool. Half mast so it was during President Carter’s funeral. Forget the Mississippi bridge. I do not like bridges especially over water😰. The cafe looked neat. Who had more fun Tanner or Papa? Love the picture of the 3 generation walking away hand in hand. Looking for the next adventure 💙💙❤️. I love going to old battlefield but it’s always an Erie feeling. Looks like a nice days. Clouds are neat looking. I’m sure Tanner loved having Papa visit for two weeks. Was probably sad when he had to leave. Crisp evening fire with Tanner’s favorite…. marshmallows. That picture of you dad and Tanner looking through the cave was a neat end to this story. Hope this one saves🤞🏻Love you to the moon, around the stars and back to earth forever ❤️
