Warning! Long post! Grab some snacks and a drink! ♥️

This was home for almost 4 months! And my goodness did it sure feel like a second home to us. We met so many wonderful people at this campground.

Jan- a wonderful retired nurse who I only wish I can be like one day!

Kathy and Don ( not pictured ) and Remy! who took us in like we were their own kids. Don is probably one of the most badass guys I’ve ever gotten to meet!

Tanners bestest new friend Ada. And her family Kenny and Nikki, Benton, Maliki and Nova! Such an awesome wholesome family. Traveled all over and are setting down some roots in SC. We really hope to come back to visit! Anthony’s hoping to do some hunting with Kenny!

And a few others we have no pictures of that became like family to us. Stitch, “Aunt” Renee and jasper ( tanner called her this ) Chris, Melissa and The kids Tanner played with Makenzie, mj, Carson and okie. Lake Thurmond was good to us. We will forever have a place in our hearts for the new friends/family we made there. Although now it is new management and named Plum branch rv park!
10/10 recommend a visit there.

At Paris mountain state park I realized…my new favorite smell is the mountains. It was beautiful that day. It was warm enough but had a slight mist and made the scent of the trees come out.

This was a nice little hike that we eventually got lost on and realized we were on the vigorous path less traveled. Where a random toe shoed man crept in on Anthony and made his soul leave his body. ( Lmao still makes me laugh when I think of it. )

Ask me about the friend Anthony made here. it won’t disappoint.

Sassafras mountain was so cool. It’s the highest point in South Carolina. You could see all the way to Georgia and North Carolina. It’s actually bordered up to North Carolina so you can be in both states at once!

We eventually moved to another campground. Due to the long distance drive to and from work for me. Super sad we left but it ended up being better we did for weather purposes. Because eventually South Carolina got snow! and the south really isn’t prepared for such things. So a 20 minute drive was better than 40 minutes.

This place was really neat. A family that has a couple acres decorated with lights for the local families to drive through all for free! It was perfect for Tanner.

One of Tanners Christmas gifts from “Aunt” Renee and jasper. Was a family trip to Big Air trampoline park! He had a blast ! So did Anthony! Check out those smiles.

We stopped in and had some awesome crepes. Not as good as my Uncle Ray’s crepes. But pretty darn good. It was such a cute little place. The seating felt like everyone family. I would travel back and eat here again. It’s worth it.

Goooodddness! This cake was good. Homemade blackberry walnut wine cake. With a scoop of vanilla ice cream! Heaven! A woman who lives locally makes this cake and drops it off at the diner and they sell it there. How cool! They also had really good burgers.

Don’t ask me the history because it still confuses me/ boggles my mind to think the people they were fighting were literally just on the other side of the woods to them. And to think they had to live and coexist without ever knowing when someone was going to attack. I’ll tell ya what. I probably would have died of a heart attack from the stress of never knowing. It’s named because it was 96 miles from the Cherokee Indians. Which leads me to… ISSAQUEENA FALLS!

Issaqueena was a Cherokee Indian woman who fell in love with an American settler. The stories goes she heard her tribe was going to attack the American troops so she took off on her horse, road to her American to tell him about it and along the way named the different cities/areas along the way 6 Mile mountain 12 mike creek. A the way to 96. 96 miles on a horse… goodnight. That’s love. Well she married him had children and moved back home. Only for her tribe to find out and go after her. This is where she hid in the falls from the tribe until it was safe. Legend says the Cherokee people believed waterfalls were bad luck. So they didn’t go in looking for her. This is the jist of it.

We took a day trip over to Greenville South Carolina to take tanner to see a monster truck show! Along the way we stopped at a waterfall I can’t remember the name of. And checked out the downtown area.

On the work front. I’ve met some really awesome people here at Greenwood. Had a good experience and learned some good lessons. Actual Travel nursing is hard work. Local contracts or floating to other hospitals no biggie. But to get up and move to entire different part of the United States and do nursing. It’s different. The entire set up and way things operate are ALOT different than the north. I feel spoiled in Ohio. Where nurses are looked at like doctor’s right hands. And team work is part of patient care. Patient care and experience should be the priority. I think a lot of places have lost site of that.
The place I worked at had some hard working nurses who got their assess handed to them every single day. It is tough work. People are sick. Care has changed and staffing is limited. But those people I met were great. A wonderful group of nurses who actually care. I don’t think I met one nurse who I felt didn’t bust her butt like all the rest of us. I feel blessed I was able to come and help out for the 13 weeks I spent there.

Till next time. We love you all. Thanks for coming along! – The Miller Family
